6/19/97 His Ways
Dear Friends:

(If it is welcome and a blessing, send it on to others,Lee)

God has a way, that doesn't resemble our ways. His ways aren't our ways He says. What does that mean. To my simple mind, quite often, it means if I don't open to His Word, my battleship is already on its way off course.

I am encouraged. Once again God has met me where I am at, and shown me the power of His might. Last night at our Rutland cell, 3 new people showed. With needs and a hunger and thirst for the things of the Lord. That brings us to 9 Rutland people. That is encouraging.

I don't think anyone at the meeting preconceived that we would do what happened. That God would bring a penniless, cancer victim to us after the meeting was nearly over, only to begin a new meeting. He was walking around the town looking for something to latch onto. His name was Jesus. Not our way, but your way, Lord.

Yesterday, I went to lunch with a missionary from Africa and a group of believers from our area, and after lunch a Jehovah's Witness received deliverance and turned her life to the Lord. Was it expected? I think there are some of us who expect and God meets that where we are. But I do not believe any of us were expected this encounter. This young woman had listened to our conversations about the Lord and His power. My way would not be to go to lunch with believers, knowing that there would be a challenge in the the three people who felt led (I know it was God), call them to this lunch. Our understanding was it was believers. Because one of the men knew a member of this trio, they sat down. And I will share with you this would not be my way. Not our way, but your way, Lord.

But God has a higher way than us. And if He wants to remove us from our preconceived ideas to bring us a cancer victim who needs Jesus, or a confused young woman, well, so much for comfort zones.

And let me tell you this, humility is a by product of this type of encounter. In my own life, way too much of the time I have an agenda. My schedule has been so topsy turvy, I need an dry marker, erasable date book. I have just about trashed mine. But when I see the power of the Lord in a person's life, I am encouraged...big time. So when my day seems to have a mind of its own, selah, it may be God's intervention in my life.

Today, my prayer for you is that you will see God's hand upon your life. That even in the middle of the storm, His hand will become evident to you. That you will see signs and wonders as you allow His peace to work in you. That you will recognize His ways, seeing them as the hand of a loving God.

As the world seeks to promote its ways, God's ways are tried and true. They so frequently operate contrary to reason(?), and yet those who partaken in His ways have seen great fruit. As His Word enters the fibers of your life, the results are peace, righteousness and joy. There is a line, that many twelve step people are familiar with, and yet it is so true about God. I paraphrase it frequently. God, by attraction, not promotion. It is what is working in you, that is a light to others. No light has to send out messages to be covered with moths on a summer day. Your light, Jesus' light dwelling in you, will draw people unto you.

Be a light. A beacon to those wandering around in the darkness. His ways are not our ways. Let us turn to Him rather than try to "improve" upon God.

Selah.

Shalom.
