7/22/97 Family
Dear Friends:

(If it is welcome and a blessing, send it on to others,Lee)

Family.

It is great to know you are out there. On Sunday I spoke of relationship. I used the text from Luke where Martha was scurrying around, and complained to Jesus that Mary wasn't doing anything. (She was much brassier than most people when they feel someone isn't doing as much!) Jesus told her that Mary wass receiving the better portion.

Too often Jesus is right in our living rooms and we are too busy. He's just heard our 5 minutes of bless me prayers and we are not waiting for Him to speak. Think about it. He didn't go get Martha and say here is the better place. This is where its at. He won't retrieve you. If you do not want to listen, he will not chase you.

And family is a lot like that. If we do not make ourselves available to one another, most will not chase another down. With my dad going through his time of chemo, I realize, I could have spent more time with him. And I have another situation involving father-son and I see that the time is ticking away. And when one of the two people comes to me with ministry ideas, I have to evaluate it in a different light.

Life here isn't forever. The time you spend with a loved one today is so important. I didn't avoid my dad, I just got a little too busy sometimes for those times he probably wanted to see me.

And isn't that the way some of us treat Jesus. How much time do we give Him? As much as we do our pleasures? I have had to re-evaluate some things after beginning to get so busy last week. I am not going to wait for a stay in a hospital to show me the error of my ways. That I was too busy doing things.

I appreciate this family of believers who receive this letter and write to me. Thanks you so much for being there.

Shalom.

Selah.
