7/17/97 Comfort
Dear Friends:

(If it is welcome and a blessing, send it on to others,Lee)

Yesterday as we prayed, the presence of God just sat in the room with us. It wasn't planned. We had gathered to pray at noon for the tent, the people, and the surrounding areas.

God's presence just filled the room. Those who were there felt different. Cleansed would be a good word. As we prayed that God would remove, rip out everything that was not of Him, His presence began to move.

As we finished, I asked was anybody wanting to leave. Why? Because, who would want to leave the presence of the Teacher, the Master.

And I suspect that it has to do with being squeezed out, wrung out, til there is no impurity, no unGodly thing left.

I wrote yesterday of wine being squeezed out. I have heard descriptions of washclothes being wrung out removing all the soap. What I know in my own life, as well as many of the others within the church, is there is a hunger, a desire, to lose all that is a hindrance. To see flesh removed. One lady said, she felt the time of God waiting to correct was becoming shorter. Not that we had an angry God, but He was in the process of cleaning up His bride.

The desire to see all that is uncomely, ungodly removed is increasing. The hunger and thirst is growing. I said yesterday at a meeting I did not feel prepared for what is going on. If the truth be known, I would spend all day with God, and just sit at His feet. Why? The presence of God is a wonderful thing, and now as we continue to press in there is an overwhelming sense of the word Comforter. Enveloped, completely lost in Him.

I expect this presence to grow stronger and more powerful as others join in. Its like jumping in a powerful river, the edge has motion, but it doesn't have POWER. As we move towards the center of this flow the power is increasing. Its not an explainable thing. It is only realized by being in there.

Its relationship. Our biggest concern in this body is that we do not lose focus of relationship. Its easy when you have smaller bodies, but we are growing. Relationship. Not agenda. Not programs. Not ministry.

As the days progress, I am feeling very tiny compared to the power I am feeling. The gentleness, the sweetness, the love. Tears flow for no apparent reason. My own daughter has determined that she must share this with others. That she needs to tell family. That she wants to go to the mission field (what happened to cars, boys and nail polish), and on to school. That she will be a witness to schoolmates.

Its not our church, our leaders, our programs. Its the love and the comfort of God compelling people to move on His behalf.

Today, you may already be frazzled as you read this. Please, step back, draw a few breaths, and ask God to place a scripture for you to chew on. Meditate on His Word. Invite Him to rip out the iniquity, and ask for His power to be in your life in greater measure. Let His love envelope you.

Be comforted by the Comforter.

Selah.

Shalom.
