Pillars of clouds and fire...

4/1/97-Much Snow-No Power

Dear Friends:

(If it is welcome and a blessing, send it on to others,Lee)

This morning I awoke to beautiful snow and no power, an of course no heat. I recognize that many of you would disagree with the term "beautiful snow", especially of those of you in the south and those that had to shovel this morning.

But, this snow covered a multitude of problems, like mud. And yet, as the sun came and removed great amounts of the snow, the problem of what's underneath still exists and in fact became more of a problem.

I realize there are a couple of lessons here.

The first being that when we have sin, it isn't usually very pretty, and like the mud, we get mired in it. And then after we have been looking at it, wishing it gone, here comes something to cover it with.

It may be an act of forgiveness we must do, and in the process sidestep the blame, still leaving the mud. (Forgiveness should be sought with out excuse). I have found over the last few years that many of us, like the snow, because we don't have to look at what we didn't resolve last fall. Like lawn chairs, leaves, etc. As Christians, I see that many of us like those quick fixes, that like snow, cause us not to look at the real problems.

And yet underneath, ultimately, prayer turns up those things in our hearts that need to be looked at for what they are. Mud can be deceiving, so can sin. Both may have the appearance of "not to dangerous".

"Repent, for the Kingdom of God is near".

So cried, the prophets of old.

"Forgive us our sin as we forgive those who sin against us."

The forgiven servant lost what he had gained, by no forgiveness on his part. Turn away from those things that cover up what is easier to take care of now, harder than it was yesterday, and not nearly as hard as it will be tomorrow.

No power.

Suffice it to say, that nothing moves without power. And many times we take it for granted. The power in our lives is through grace and no other reason. Our power resides in us, and yet it can be corrupted and not flow, for many reasons.

Unbelief, doubt, sin.

To see it restored, we must be reconciled to the Father, by repentance, asking His forgiveness.

We as Christians seek power.

Today let's see power restored to us, to the church. Go before the Lord today, asking forgiveness, seeking forgiveness, giving forgiveness. Let's see the snow removed, look at what really exists in our hearts and see it removed. Last night, I watched the pain and hurt on someones face who had not forgiven, as they realized the cost of their unforgiveness.

Let us choose to forgive.

Selah.

Shalom.

We pray for you, each and every day. If this is an encouragement to you. Please tell us, and please email it to someone else. If you have a prayer request, please mail it to us. We want to stand with you, battling spiritual wickedness, seeing people made free. We want to serve our brother and sister.
