Yesterday is over. I can see the hand of God in my life and I can face today. Yesterday, I saw what God wants to do and what He decided He didn't want me to do. Many doors opened and some closed.
Does that sound familiar? It is easier to look back on yesterday and see what God is doing. Can we apply our experience of yesterday to increase our faith of today? I think so. It is experience that is often a great teacher. (You can also learn by my experiences how not to do somethings and save yourself a whole lot of trouble! And if I tell you rattlesnakes are deadly do you try one on for size to assess my credibility? So why is it when someone tells us a sin area that took days, weeks and years to overcome, we often feel the need to try it ourselves, when we should be shouting "rattlesnakes!!!!")
Yesterday was an awesome day. First, I stuck my foot in my mouth to set the tone of the day! Then I met with a fellow pastor for a few hours. Upon returning, I made various attempts on foot removal! Then I had to deal with some people who want to see if "rattlesnakes" truly are deadly. (You know..."they are so pretty and they make such a cool noise and...why are you concerned Pastor Lee?" So I watch someone running to the rattlesnakes.) And then I met for the first time with another Springfield pastor to pray!!! Only 2 1/2 years. And some of you asked if there was a sequel to yesterday and the answer is "I hope so". The step of faith involves my daughter, Amy, and her coming to live here. God knows my heart's desire for her.
Today is all I have. I purpose to live it to the fullest. Based on yesterday I can trust God and I can't trust myself. I purpose my heart on the things of God, just like Daniel did. I want to walk a life of respect, holy before Him, doing His will. I will not eat of the breads of the world.
Yesterday is gone. Tomorrow I am unsure of and therefore today is all I have.
Are there "rattlesnakes" you have been approaching? Do you feel nervous about some things? Has God been trying to lead you away that you would not be destroyed? Do you think you and I are smarter than Him?
I am reminded of this scripture;
Matthew 5:30 And if thy right hand shall cause thee to sin, cut it off, and cast it from thee: for it is profitable for thee that one of thy members should perish, and not that thy whole body should be cast into hell.
God does not want us to play with the rattlesnakes of this world. Period. End of statement.
Selah.
Shalom.
We pray for you, each and every day. If this is an encouragement to you. Please tell us, and please email it to someone else. If you have a prayer request, please mail it to us. We want to stand with you, battling spiritual wickedness, seeing people made free. We want to serve our brother and sister.
