3/22/98 Responsibility

Sitting on the burn.

The body of Christ is no different than a child. Sometimes they just don't want to take responsibility for something. Many years ago I heard this line; if you set on a candle and get burned you wear the blister, no one else.

Getting our flesh in line has not changed.

Galatians 2:20 says that;

20 I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me.

You do not live in you. You have the ability to overcome sin by the grace (the power of God working in you!) bestowed upon you. I had a yong man tell me that satan "made him do it" and that was why he was in trouble with the law. I looked him in the eye and told him satan had no part with his violent actions. His flesh made him do it and he succumbed. No one else wears the blister.

A few months ago my son in his 15 year old wisdom decided he needed a cd collection and mailed a few post cards in to some record companies. I saw boxes of cd's coming through the door. Some I caught and convinced him to send back and one I didn't. The result, he is involved in a $150 contract that he will pay no matter what. He would tell you it is a lesson he could have done without. He would also tell you he has learned some valuable money lessons in the last few months that have cost him over $200 with nothing to show for it. He wears the blister.

Satan does not have power over us as Christians. We have the victory. I am not talking about your car breaking down (certainly if you have no maintained it you wear the blister!) but your actions when it does break down. Do you blame the right party? Or do you just begin to go crazy with it, causing damage and seeds of iniquity to be sown. We will reap what we sow.

You and I have the power over the enemy as Jesus ripped away his power for evermore.

You and I need to take responsibility for our actions. When we err it is OUR repentance that needs to come forth. My son learned a hard lesson but one he will keep in his mind for evermore.

I had a parent tell me that they continued to help their grown child and that he continued to ask for money and never had enough. And yet after counsel where they were advised to cut off the flow of funds, the child began to make a way on their own. When he realized it was his burn and his blister he had to bear and not his parents, his stability in all things began to take shape.

God is a blessing God and He desires the best from us,and yet he also desires us to become responsible.

Selah.

Shalom.
