Meditation. Getting what you bargained for. Isn't that where we want to be?
Meditation means shutting down the mind, blocking out all the cares of the world(COW's) and getting in touch with the Living God and His Word. It means being like David, taking that time to get alone (something he obviously learned walking around a sheep pasture or two!), bringing forth praise and worship, speaking to God and then shutting up! I have never found a conversation that is running with both parties speaking simultaneously, to bear fruit and God is too much of a gentleman to interrupt(usually!), so many of us have walked away from speaking our side without ever hearing the Word of the Lord, because He never got a chance to speak! Many have heard the story that God gave us two ears and one mouth so that we could listen twice as much as we speak! Have you listened???
God wants to give you the revelation knowledge you have asked for, but most of us transmit while we want to receive. When I pray for people I simply ask them not to pray and get into that place of reception.
Why? When we are in the world do we always want and then we get born again and try to give, give, give??? One of the hardest things for many Christians is the ability to receive.
I came out of eastern religions and the first thing they begin to teach you is to clear(oh! boy!) your mind (which by the looks of many they have been successful!) so that the power of the god can enter(usually the prince of the air!) and begin forming your mind. Well...its a counterfeit for the real thing. When you begin to adjust your time to God He will begin filling.
We, as His people, really need to wait on the Lord(it means to tie into where He is going), taking the time to let Him speak. I imagine there are many of us who will find that we have missed the creative idea or direction, because we went to Him, popped a prayer, and on our way. As things get crazier in the world, I want what God has to offer me.
C'mon! Here we have this God who is the God of abundance(El Shaddai). We run to Him, throw our petition(just like an ATM), get the immediate result(usually what we wanted all the time-ever notice that???), and just like an ATM, we come out with only the $100 maximum, when we have millions in the bank, but because we don't take the time to access through the door, up to the teller, we can't get the full amount of inheritance. The ATM approach is a bandaid approach to matters that require serious withdrawal.
How do I know? Letter upon letter, of requests for healings that God says He can heal. Requests for salvation. People who year after year, fall to the same sin, day after day(and these are the saved ones!!!), never seemingly able to pull themselves out. Have you ever had a friend who has been really sick? How much time did the doctors put into helping him or her get better? How much time did that doctor spend learning how to help someone. Ever rescued somebody from drowning or pull someone from a car wreck? It was probably more than a minute's work. And yet we bring the problems to the Lord's feet and say "your problem!" and walk away. So often we never wait to hear what He has to say about it. ("Son, if you keep getting burned, get away from the fire!!!)
Meditation begins to bring true, Godly perspective to our live. Some spent more time listening to the football game last week than they did waiting upon the Lord ALL week!!! Some spent more time listening to someone who has no ability to help them, but they thought they did!
And tomorrow, I will ask you this question; what do you meditate on?
Selah.
Shalom.
We pray for you, each and every day. If this is an encouragement to you. Please tell us, and please email it to someone else. If you have a prayer request, please mail it to us. We want to stand with you, battling spiritual wickedness, seeing people made free. We want to serve our brother and sister.
