4/30/98 Drought

Drought.

I am always amazed at the methods that God uses to get the attention of people. Drought is but one. And yet in the natural right now there is a great need in the Philipines because of drought. A friend I support there, notified me of an emergency need for finances to purchase water pumps. Another missionary there contacted me because of the fires that have begun and the need to move families.

Brothers and sisters, there is a need. Begin to pray. I know this isn't the only international news. But this is the one God asked me to share. If you have never sown financially into a missionary, this is a good time to begin. If you want me to take care of it, you may send it to me and earmark it "MR". The Macedonians were blessed and gave liberally. (This is the only time perhaps a Christian should be liberal-otherwise we are conservative!!!) If your church has Philipine support of missions you need to let them know your partners are in danger. Crops are disappearing, fires are starting spontaneously and their world is coming apart. I will sow because I love and believe, and it is not the blessing that comes that is the reason, but I will tell you this; you can not sow without being blessed.

Thank you for the soapbox. May those who bless be blessed.

But there is another kind of drought going on in the world and that is a drought of the Word.

There are some basics for a Christian. Some of those are a Bible or the Word(study tools perhaps), times of prayer AND meditation, witnessing and fellowship. If you are missing one of those "wheels of Christianity". You have a "flat tire", so to speak. Ever drive a car with a flat tire? Don't! You need to know the Word. Just like your times of trial and tribulation, what you sow will quite often be available to you in these times. The Word. The Bible is the Word. Jesus was the Word.

Can you bring forth 10 scriptures? If you can't this is a good time to begin. (If you need suggestions, just write me.) Here's a good one.

Isa 54:17 No weapon that is formed against thee shall prosper; and every tongue that shall rise against thee in judgment thou shalt condemn. This is the heritage of the servants of the LORD, and their righteousness is of me, saith the LORD.

Write it down on an index card. Carry it. Read it. Turn it around in your mind. What does it mean?

This is the beginning of overcoming the enemy. You have begun to put water where this drought has been. And once the Word becomes part of you (Rhema), no one can pry it away.

Has there been a "drought" in your life? The inscription in my signature declares that Christians should be fountains, not places of drought. You can destroy the dry places of your life with the Word of God. Begin bringing life forward, for "out of your bellies shall flow rivers of living water." Ever pour water on a dry land. It turns off. Your initial attempts may be hard, perhaps seeming to bear no fruit, but I assure you, perserverance will bring "wet lands" of the Word, flowing through your life.

May God bless you.

Selah.
