4/16/98 Disciples

Last night some one asked us "what did you do?" and you know the day flew so fast, that Tina and I could not tell immediately what had transpired. We had attended a meeting with friends, I had to resolve taxes, she went to the nursing home and then we got together, only for me to feel that one of our people was under attack. When we arrived there, two of them had been sick. "What did you do?" says the Lord. Any possibility of truth to that vision? What have we done in this day.

Tina and I are both returning to work. She already has and I need to finish a church building, and then back to work. We realized to accomplish the Lord's work in the church we had to make sacrifices. People ask "is that the Lord?" Would the Lord prefer that our bills are not paid? What have we done?

Being at "work" will allow us to affect the world who does not know Jesus. Many have written, some suggesting that this is might not be "of the Lord". So I have asked myself (and the Lord), "would you rather have me not pay someone, Lord?" How can it be faith when people are not being taken care of? We are not using faith! We are using other's finances and calling it faith.

Many Christians get upset or in a jam, and stop paying and say "the Lord will provide" and with that I don't disagree...but, has the thought ever crossed some people's mind that the Lord might want to use them???

Yesterday, I began a program of discipleship for young people. One of the comments was that it was hard. My comment was that perhaps we "should" employ it in our church. I enclose the "requirements" for this class.

You will have to memorize one scripture a week.

Read one chapter from the Old Testament and one from the New Testament each day.

Read the Proverb for that day. (Example: April 15=Proverbs 15)

Pray 15 minutes in the morning.

Pray 15 minutes in the evening.

Be at church once a week.

Witness to one person a week, giving your testimony in the process.

To "graduate" you must be able to write out all 10 scriptures.

And for some this is "hard", but I have realized something this week. You and I need to make disciples.

I have perhaps thought, that many would move at the pace I did, with the same hunger and perseverance. Unfortunately, not true. Maybe there is someone in your life who needs to be discipled and it is your job to take them under your wing.

Selah.

Shalom.

We pray for you, each and every day. If this is an encouragement to you. Please tell us, and please email it to someone else. If you have a prayer request, please mail it to us. We want to stand with you, battling spiritual wickedness, seeing people made free. We want to serve our brother and sister.
